Ability to update computer name

I would like to be able to update the asset name without needing to change the computer name, for example it could be DESKTOP-H73DWS and another could be DESKTOP-JK328DC, a user could have both, 1 at home the other in the office, how can I tell which one is the work one they are using quickly without having to find the ip address of the business and then hope their home IP is a different range.
