Problem / Pain:
A lot of assets we manage expose their admin UI only on the client LAN (NAS, firewalls, switches, cameras, printers, hypervisors, etc.). Even when an RMM agent is installed on an on-site workstation/server that can reach those internal web UIs, there’s no built-in way to launch them from the asset record.
Right now the only practical options are:
remote into an on-site machine and manually open the web UI, or
maintain a client VPN with individual accounts for every technician.
Option #2 isn’t ideal: it adds security risk, overhead, credential sprawl, and offboarding headaches. For many clients it’s also a hard “no.”
Example use case:
We have an agent on a client workstation/server. We regularly need to reach something like a NAS UI at https://10.0.0.50:5001.
Instead of remoting in and typing the URL, or forcing a VPN per tech, we want a one-click “Open Web UI” action from the asset record that launches through that on-site agent.
Requested feature:
Introduce a “Web UI / Browser Link” capability tied to a chosen on-site agent (jump host).
Fields:
Target URL/IP (http/https, custom ports)
“Open via / Jump Host Agent” selector
Optional labels/notes/tags
Behavior:
Asset view shows “Open Web UI”.
Clicking launches the URL through the selected agent (browser opens on that device or via proxied session).
If the agent is offline, show a clear warning.
Why this matters / value:
Lets techs access internal web consoles without a per-tech VPN.
Reduces security exposure and operational burden.
Saves time and avoids constant IP/port re-typing.
Makes the RMM asset record a true single-pane shortcut for infra.
Outcome:
Internal-only web interfaces become safely reachable in one click inside the RMM platform, using an existing on-site agent as the access point — no VPN sprawl required.
