Small UX and Efficiency improvement, coming from the World of Ninja RMM when we say added the same device back to ninja it would automatically identify that its the same device and then assiosiate it. For example we have a laptop that we added, that then started experiencing some issues, we have then reformatted the device and then will reinstll Gorelo, but currently to even get remotely close to this we have merge assets manually which doesnt seem to work when we’ve done it, is there a way maybe based on a hardware identifyer somewhere that could allow for this to be automated?

    I was about to post a similar feature request to this. Use case is we do a fresh-start via Autopilot on a device, so it re-runs Gorelo as part of the onboarding step in Autopilot so we can’t add the identifier.

    I can, obviously, merge them because the serial numbers are the same (and I haven’t experienced the bug mentioned below)
    However, to use the Serial number (which, for Tier1 vendors are usually pretty unique) and say “Hey it looks like this might be $device, did you want to merge” - even if we need to raise it as an alert instead or something.

    Where serialnumber and client are the asme, suggest it. But obviously try to filter out some of the scrap like “Default Serial” and stuff. Usually I only see them on whitebox builds or …… downlevel …. brands

    We previously used the HWID but ran into issues with spoofed HWID’s from whitebox manufacturers and moved to our own identifier.

    Please submit a bug for whatever issues you’re experiencing with merging as this is the reason it was implemented.

    Another approach is to copy the DeviceId before you wipe it and then paste that in over the top when you reinstall the agent. HKLM\SOFTWARE\Gorelo

      I’ll do some more testing on the merge element as i appreciate that it shuld work but ive only tried to use it twice in a rush and it just didnt do anything so let me do some more testing.

      Regarding the actual query, I totally appreciate the issue there with HWID. Is there no scope to make it possible with you, using your own Identifier?
