Asset Tags Support

Ive seen a few posts similar to this, and they’re close but not quite what we need.

All of our managed assets have asset tags that are different than the device names. Example:


Access point at a multi site company. Company name —- Site Number —— Device Type, Number:

CACB-02-AP07

We know by reading this where it’s at, what it is, and what customer.

However CACB-02-AP07 has an asset tag:

APEX-6712

The asset tag is on the device.

Let’s say we’re working with a customer and one of their switches is offline.

We can easily say “go into the network room on the second floor, look for asset APEX-7728 and unplug, wait 30, then plug back in.”

Meanwhile APEX-7728 in our system is also GRAC-01-SW16 but they’d never know that.
