We’ve got a customers desktop that has been running slow, L1 engineers can see its maxing out CPU, but it doesn’t make sense why.
Gets to L3 (Me) and I run a Hardware Monitor and can easily see right away the issue, CPU is maxing out at 100° and clock speed had gone from 4.0GHz to 1.1GHz, Fan is running at Max.
Educated brain says, airflow/cooling is the issue, dispatch a tech and sure enough, despite being impecibly clean on the outside, inside is caked with dust and the fan isn’t producing any airflow.
So how can Gorelo help this?
Well LibreHardwareMonitor is open source, and supports remote monitoring, and generating log file for active monitoring on things like clock speed, temprature and all sorts of sensors.
Would be very handy to have this information in Gorelo, or be able to trigger an active monitoring of a device. Would make troubleshooting way easier, and more L1 friendly, and would also be able to remotely monitor things that aren’t your traditional issues, like dust buildup.
I’m sure I could write a script, but I’m also sure there wouldn’t be many MSP’s that wouldn’t want this info.
